Vulcan Tool Company Founded

Vulcan Tool Company is founded in Dayton, Ohio, by local toolmakers as a small tool and die shop, establishing the foundation for more than a century of manufacturing and engineering innovation.

Lee Amos Jones Acquires Vulcan Tool Company

Lee Amos Jones acquires Vulcan Tool Company, guiding the company through expansion during World War I and continued growth throughout the 1920s.

Brehm Shimmy Die Gains Recognition

The Brehm Shimmy Die is prominently featured in American Machinist advertisements, helping establish its reputation as a cost- and time-saving solution for industrial tube trimming.

Brehm Patents Granted

Patents developed by Charles M. Brehm for supported shear-searing and trimming die mechanisms are officially granted, laying the foundation for the Brehm Shimmy Die technology.

Tube Products Company Founded

Lee Warren Jones, son of Lee Amos Jones, establishes Tube Products Company in Dayton, Ohio, expanding the Jones family's involvement in the region's manufacturing industry.

1941–1945

Vulcan Supports the War Effort

During World War II, Vulcan Tool Company plays an important role in the war effort by manufacturing high-precision machines used in the production of military equipment.

Late 1945

Vulcan Expands Into the Lorain Avenue Facility

Vulcan Tool Company acquires Dayton Tool and Engineering Company and moves into its Lorain Avenue facility, which remains the home of Vulcan Tool Company today.

Vulcanaire Spindle Introduced

Vulcan introduces and patents the Vulcanaire high-speed pneumatic grinding spindle, transforming standard machine tools into precision jig grinders and expanding the company's innovative product portfolio.

1949–1955

Shimmy Die & Brehm Technology Acquired

Vulcan licenses Shimmy Die and Brehm tube-cutting technology from Steel Products Engineering Company (SPECO) in Springfield, Ohio. Vulcan later acquires SPECO's Brehm Division, obtaining full rights to the Brehm chipless tube-cutting machinery line.

Vulcan conducts groundbreaking research involving precision chipless cutting of uranium slugs and tubes for specialized industrial applications, further advancing its expertise in precision manufacturing.

Vulcan Tool Corporation Formed

Vulcan Tool Company merges with Tube Products Company, officially forming Vulcan Tool Corporation and bringing the two related manufacturing operations together.

Vulcan Joins the Ruthman Family of Companies

Vulcan Tool becomes part of the Ruthman Family of Companies, expanding its distribution capabilities and access to international markets in Europe and Asia.

Next Generation of Tube Cutting Technology

Vulcan continued advancing its long-established expertise in chipless tube cutting, developing and refining the Ringmaster, Brehm, and Ultimate series to serve a wide range of industrial tube-cutting applications.

A new chapter begins when Paradigm Industrial LLC acquires the assets of Vulcan Tool Company. The acquisition preserves the company's historic Dayton manufacturing operation while combining Vulcan's equipment expertise with Paradigm's industrial services.
